SPOTTED FLYCATCHERS

This is a request, please, to start looking out for birds now, and to let me know immediately you see one, whether ringed or not, at: spofl@cambridgebirdclub.org.uk

Our highest priority target, which we need to catch, are the geolocator-tagged birds with red metal rings. We need to download the tag data to see where the birds have been. Second in importance are our un-tagged controls, with blue metal rings. There will also be birds around which we have ringed as nestlings; these will just have an uncoloured silver metal ring.

Wednesday 30th March

Nene Washes - Wheatear, Little Ringed Plover near March farmers entrance, Avocet, 450 golden plover flying about. Water pipit in summer plumage east of Eldernell car park, also drake Garganey, 2100 Icelandic Black-tailed Godwits (Jonathan Taylor)

Eldernell - pair & 2 male Garganey, 2 Short-eared Owls (Robin Ward)

Ferry Meadows - singing Blackcap, 20+ Sand Martin, 7+ Chiffchaff, Black Swan flying around (Don Gardener)

Yaxley - Black Redstart still present (Will Bowell)

Grafham Water - Red-necked Grebe, 2 House Martin (John Hoppett)

Swaffham Bulbeck - 2 Swallow (Giles Merritt)
