SPOTTED FLYCATCHERS

This is a request, please, to start looking out for birds now, and to let me know immediately you see one, whether ringed or not, at: spofl@cambridgebirdclub.org.uk

Our highest priority target, which we need to catch, are the geolocator-tagged birds with red metal rings. We need to download the tag data to see where the birds have been. Second in importance are our un-tagged controls, with blue metal rings. There will also be birds around which we have ringed as nestlings; these will just have an uncoloured silver metal ring.

Trumpington - 12 WAXWING (Richard Gregory)

Ouse Washes - 3 Garganey along the East bank, a pair south of Norfolk border and a drake 100m north of 100ft pumping station, 9 Scaup at Chain Corner (Brendan Doe); 2 Smew (Hugh Venables)

Grafham Water - 3 male Garganey, at least one female, 3 avocet and c.6 snipe on the lagoons. Male Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Ravens on pylons and in flight at Dudney Creek, Great Northern diver near the dam (Mark Brandon)

March Farmers - 3 Little Gulls (Mike Weedon)

Wicken area - GREAT GREY SHRIKE near Cross Dyke (Donal McCarthy and Ellie Burke); 4 Avocet on Baker's Fen, Short-eared Owls at Burwell Fen and Tubney Fen (Kevin Wilson)
