SPOTTED FLYCATCHERS

This is a request, please, to start looking out for birds now, and to let me know immediately you see one, whether ringed or not, at: spofl@cambridgebirdclub.org.uk

Our highest priority target, which we need to catch, are the geolocator-tagged birds with red metal rings. We need to download the tag data to see where the birds have been. Second in importance are our un-tagged controls, with blue metal rings. There will also be birds around which we have ringed as nestlings; these will just have an uncoloured silver metal ring.

Paxton Pits - GREAT REED WARBLER singing 06:30h (rarebirdalert.com); showed very well late afternoon (Martin Davis)

Grafham Water - 2nd summer WHITE-WINGED BLACK TERN distantly from Mander CP 17:40h, ranging widely until mod-evening at least. Also Quail calling near Plummer CP briefly, 5+ Arctic Tern, 2 Sanderling (Mark Hawkes)

Fen Drayton Lakes - 2 Cuckoo (Luke Wake)

Recent sightings from May Farm, Littleport - 2 Hobby, Cuckoo, up to 30 Yellow Wagtail, Short-eared Owl, up to 35 Corn Bunting and 60 Linnet (Steve Mumford)
