This is a request, please, to start looking out for birds now, and to let me know immediately you see one, whether ringed or not, at:

Our highest priority target, which we need to catch, are the geolocator-tagged birds with red metal rings. We need to download the tag data to see where the birds have been. Second in importance are our un-tagged controls, with blue metal rings. There will also be birds around which we have ringed as nestlings; these will just have an uncoloured silver metal ring.

Ouse Washes - STONE CURLEW on fields behind Stevens Hide early morning but no sign of it when leaving the hide at 07:40h. Also 3 Crane over, 3 Garganey, Grey Plover, Greenshank, 16+ Avocet, Hobby, Short-eared Owl (Duncan Poyser, Mark Hawkes); back in the same field 10:45h (Owen Marks); Great White Egret from Kingfisher Hide (Hugh Venables)

Grafham Water - 29 Arctic Tern, Black Tern, Whimbrel over (Mark Ward); 3 Sanderling on dam (Robin Ward)

Meadow Lane Pits - Black Tern over (Mark Hawkes)

March Farmers - 2 WHITE-WINGED BLACK TERN with 15 Black Tern 16:25h. Also Arctic Tern, 3 Short-eared Owl, 2 Whimbrel over, 3 Greenshank, Hobby, 2 Garganey, Bittern over, Whooper Swan (Mike Weedon)

Paxton Pits - GREAT REED WARBLER 18:51h (Stuart & Jill Elsom); still showing well at south end of Washout Pit 20:30h (Mark Hawkes, Jamie Wells); Raven over, Grey Plover, 2 Greenshank, Arctic Tern, 3 Hobby (Martin Davis)
